Turns out that the frozen E-coli cells in the freezer aren't dead, because they grew in a nutrient broth, but for some reason, they did not grow on our plate. We did have growth on the swab plate, so we know that our plates aren't the reason why the E-coli didn't grow. Today, we made the E-coli cells competent.
